Below are a few excerpts from our past clients. We would also be happy to provide you a complete list of references for you to contact and inquire about our services and results.
Back in January 2009, we decided to redo our kitchen in our small 1919 bungalow. The kitchen still had the original layout, cabinets and no place for a fridge. We wanted to have a functional kitchen with a fridge in it, but also wanted a vintage feel to match the rest of the house. At the time, we interviewed a number of contractors and went with someone who turned out to be a disaster. The guy never returned and sent a crew that did not know anything. Needless to say, we asked them to leave. For almost a year, we did not have a kitchen. Then one day, we found Good Home Construction on the internet. We liked their portfolio and their kitchens shown online were beautiful. We waited to save more money before contacting the company. As serendipity would have it, we met Chuck at a fair in Long Beach, and after he looked at our kitchen, we decided to hire him. What a difference with the other crew! Chuck was always polite and knew what he was doing. We never got home angry about something, instead we looked forward to coming home and seeing whatever progress was done. Chuck brought himself and one worker, which he properly supervised, and never left the work for someone else to take care of. He promptly answered any questions we had quickly, explaining whatever he was doing when asked and never acted as if we were asking a stupid question. He finished rather quickly, and it was well done. We are not the only ones thinking our kitchen looks fantastic, our friends are very impressed, even the editor of Cottages and Bungalows thought it was magazine worthy (see June 2010 issue page 22). I highly recommend Chuck for any work, he made the renovation pretty much stress-free and the end result is outstanding!

"Chuck, we are so grateful for our new beautiful kitchen. We can now cook without the burden of a frightening kitchen looking over us. You've really helped us to have a better quality of life. Sounds dramatic, I know, but it's true. You've been professional, efficient and tolerant. I truly hope we can get enough money together to have you direct our other remodeling hopes."
Jennifer H., Homeowner of a 1940's Era Cottage
"As an Architectural Historian, and the owner of an historic home, I use Good Home Construction's services for my restoration projects. Their attention to period detail and love of honest materials ensures that my projects come out perfect every time. They understand how vintage homes are constructed, and has the flexibility to handle whatever we find behind those mystery walls! The work ethic at Good Home Construction means my job will be on time, on budget, and done right the first time. I love having them work on my home, and I love the security of knowing I can count on them for my clients. They always makes me look good."
Cynthia W., Owner of the Owens House Circa 1908
"I can recommend Chuck Kensicki of Good Home Construction from our multiple past experiences. Not only is he a professional carpenter (he can rebuild any cabinets you might need), he is professional, on time, honest and affordable, fully bonded and insured. He is doing our main house bathroom remodel right now - taking it from the dreaded 70s green to the 1925 black and white period-appropriate bathroom. Teardown to the studs is what I'm talking about. He also renovated our carriage house bathroom two years ago, installed a multiple drainage system in the backyard 3 years ago and every project he has ever worked on for us turned out just as we had requested and envisioned. Honestly, I am sure you will find Chuck's work to be impressive and professional, just check out his website, but you will like him as an individual as well.
You won't be disappointed!
Angela G., Homeowner of a 1925 Bungalow
"When deciding on who to use for my recent renovation, I checked with my friends and neighbors in my neighborhood historic district and Chuck's name (of Good Home Construction) came up several times. He is known for his quality work and easy manner. Chuck also has an appreciation for the workmanship in older homes and will tailor your project to maintain the integrity of the features unique to older homes. For my project, that included making custom windows to match the double hung windows that are part of my vintage house and transforming an existing space into my son's bedroom and bathroom. During the course of my renovation, Chuck kept me well informed of the progress and conferred with me on the details as well as giving solid suggestions/advice regarding options for heating, etc. The entire project went smoothly, I was very happy with the end result, and I would gladly recommend Good Home Construction for any general contracting projects."

"If you want the new work done on your house to look like it's been there since the house was built, Chuck of Good Home Construction is your best bet! He built a garage door for us that looked EXACTLY like the 90 year old door it replaced. Others in the Colony have told me they are extremely happy with Chuck's work."
Mike T., Old Home Enthusiast
"Our house was built in 1919 and suffered major renovations in the 1970's. We originally asked Chuck of Good Home Construction to refinish the wood floors and build custom wall bookcases between the dining and living rooms that had been destroyed by stonework. The bookcases with buttresses were designed by him to replicate the styling of Craftsman-styled pillars. From that point on, we asked him to return back to tear down the 6 brick columns in the front of our house and rebuild them in the same Craftsman-styled pillar manner of the bookcase buttresses inside. He returned again and again to refinish our wood floors, install crown moulding and exterior cedar siding, rehang our windows, reconstruct our entry door, and renovate our kitchen. Chuck has kindly dealt with us making changes on almost everything he has done for us."
Cathy W., Classic California Bungalow Owner
"I have used Good Home Construction for my master bathroom remodel several years ago, and was extremely satisfied by their work that I hired them again to remodel my second bathroom recently. Now, I'm going to have them work on my third bathroom and kitchen remodels. They were very thorough and were patient with me all along the way. I have since referred them to my friends and family and they have reported they were happy with their results."
Janet W., Homeowner of a 1970's-Era Home
"I noticed Chuck's work about 5 years ago. Since then, he has completed many restoration jobs that have included wood floor refinishing, marmoleum installation, wood window restoration, tile installations, gas line installations, and fireplace installations. He has also worked on numerous repair jobs that consisted of plumbing replacements and repair, installations of sinks, faucets, electrical repair or additions. I have always been very happy with his work and so have my clients. Usually the work ends up being inspected by a property inspector during a sale and Chuck's work always passes with flying colors. He is careful, cleans up the job site very well and always gets done when he says he will."

"If you are cruising the Colony and 5 Points, the home on Walnut suffered the humiliation of having its beautiful picture windows replaced and decreased in size with vinyl inserts. Thanks to the owners and contractor, Chuck of Good Home Construction, this cottage is being dignified once more with custom built wood replacements. This little beauty will be honored to be among the elite group of charming Anaheim historic homes (and who said these houses were too far gone to be saved?)."
